Meeting Your Match

Our samples are a great way to find the mineral shades that match you best. We recommend you try foundation shades along your jawline and on your inner forearm, ideally in natural daylight. The correct shade will blend right in and disappear. Loose mineral foundations blend in easily by nature, so you may also want to combine a drop of oil with a little of each of the foundations you’re testing to see more clearly how they compare.

If your foundation is cool, the best matches for eye, lip and cheek colours are likely to be cool. Remember, though, that other factors also come into play. Your best shades may be clear, deep and shimmery, or pastel and matte. If your foundation is warm, you’ll want to consider whether your best shades are clear and vibrant or deep and muted. Then, too, your features will call for highlighting in some places and contouring in others, and this will also influence your choices. For example, if your eyes are deep set, you may use mainly eye liners and highlight shades, adding just a little colour above the crease on the outer corners of your eyelids.

My sister Rachel (below) and I both have cool beige complexions, though mine has a clearer, deeper quality and Rachel’s has a softer, more powdered quality. Here, we’re both wearing Titania foundation. My eyes are lined with Twilight Heather and I’ve used Mulberry Mist as my eye shadow. I'm wearing Cerise lipstick.
Rachel (right) is wearing Fortuna as an eye shadow.
Rachel’s lip glaze is Pink Ladyslipper, a soft, cool shade.

Our sister Laura (above and below right) has a warm, luminous complexion with soft sand pink tones. Here she is wearing warm beige Lucina foundation with Leda for contouring. Her eyes are lined with Tranquil Green and Leopard Frog. She's wearing Coral and Soft Gold eye shadows and warm Terra Cotta Rose lip glaze.
